Apache AXIS2 is a Java-based core engine for web services. It sends, receives, and processes SOAP messages and may be used as part of REST-based services.
Apache AXIS2 is the core engine for web services. It is a complete redesign and rewrite of the previously used Apache AXIS SOAP stack. It may be used to send, receive, and process SOAP messages, receive and process JSON messages, create web services out of a plain Java classes, Create implementation classes via WSDL, and may be used as part of REST-based services.

Software Requirements
- OpenVMS V8.4-2L1 or higher (IA-64), V9.2-1 or higher (x86-64)
- Apache Tomcat for VSI OpenVMS V8.5-50 or higher
- OpenJDK 8.0-372C for VSI OpenVMS or higher
- Must be installed on an ODS-5 enabled disk
