Perl is an OpenVMS implementation of a Perl interpreter.
Perl is a high-level, dynamic programming language originally developed by Larry Wall in 1987 as a Unix scripting language and is famous for its regular expression and string parsing abilities.
Perl on VMS supports the following features:
- static and dynamic extensions
- Perl forked debugger
- command line I/O redirection and backgrounding
- Bourne shell pipes
- command line switches (-i, -S, -u)
